DC2: Combining theory and experiments on evolving autocatalytic systems
Supervisor: Prof. Sijbren Otto
Background
I was born in Kavala, Greece, in 2001. I completed my B.Sc. in Chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2023, where I investigated the electrochemical properties of composites between conducting polymers and valve metals under the supervision of Prof. Dimitra Sazou. During my undergraduate studies, I got introduced to out-of-equilibrium systems, which sparked my interest in Systems Chemistry. This curiosity led me to Strasbourg, France, where I pursued a Master’s in Complex Systems Chemistry. There, I explored a variety of research directions – working with Dr. Guillermo Monreal Santiago on the electrochemical control of coacervate formation and dissociation, with Dr. Giulio Ragazzon on light-induced active transport of amino-based cargoes, and with Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn on Constitutional Dynamic Networks. Today, I continue to pursue my passion for Systems Chemistry as a PhD student in the Otto group, where I focus on the fidelity of self-replicating systems.
